About Joan

After moving to Bloomfield in 2013, I became a community organizer to call into question zoning variances given to new construction on our block. After months of meetings, the Zoning Board declared that the builder “now had a better building." But for us, we noted that the board didn’t address any aspect of our concerns about size and density.

In the 2022 midterms, I campaigned on social media and canvassed for Mikie Sherrill. At that time, I found here in Bloomfield—among the local dems—something incongruent with good governing. Since then, I’ve become involved in attending school board meetings to ascertain why there seems to be very little sunlight between some school board candidates and the town council. I find the two abandoned schools on Franklin Street are a disturbing symbol of something that's wrong.

I am a founding member of the Bloomfield Sustainability Network, and an elected Democrat District Leader in Ward 1 District 9.

I am running to:

  • Axe the corruption tax and bring affordability to renters and homeowners alike

  • Bring transparency to town hall decisions including cost accounting to Bloomfield’s municipal operations

  • Bring Bloomfield to be the vibrant town that many of us envision.

  • Facebook
  • Email

WHAT'S NEXT

Let’s work on what’s seldom in the dialogue of our current administration. We need to address:

  • Transparent bookkeeping

  • Community engagement

  • Housing

  • Affordability

  • Micro transit

  • Urban planning

  • Local business development

Even though I am an elected, Democrat District Leader, I have never been given “County Power" support, so let’s get to work for us—for more civic engagement in Bloomfield. It’s up to me and you. We all need to step up to the plate in any way we can.
